🔑 Your Move-In Ready Guide

We’re excited to welcome you! This guide outlines what is provided and what you should bring to make your move into The Pivot Pad as smooth and stress-free as possible. This information is designed to be a simple, non-fussy reference point for you and for us.

The Foundation We Provide: Your Ready-to-Live Space

Your residency fee covers the core necessities, meaning you can focus on your goals, not logistics.

  • Housing & Furnishings: Your room is move-in ready. We provide a safe, fully furnished bedroom (including a bed, mattress, dresser, and basic storage), whether it is private or shared.

  • Utilities Included: All standard living costs are included in your rent: water, electricity, gas, heating/cooling, and trash service. You will not have to set up utility accounts.

  • Connectivity: High-speed Wi-Fi internet access is available in the home for school, work, and personal use.

  • Shared Facilities: You will have full access to a fully equipped communal kitchen (appliances, basic cookware), a comfortable living room, and on-site laundry facilities (washer and dryer).

  • Basic Supplies: We provide basic cleaning and household supplies for the common areas (kitchen, bathrooms).

Your Personal Packing List: What to Bring

Please focus on packing the items that are personal to you and will make your individual space comfortable.

Documentation & Finances

  • Identification: Government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID).

  • Vital Documents: Social Security card, birth certificate, and any relevant proof of foster care history or case worker contact information.

  • Financial: Any necessary medical cards, bank information, or cash for immediate needs.

Bedroom & Comfort

  • Linens: We provide basic bedding, but you may want to bring your own sheets, pillows, and blankets to feel more at home.

  • Towels: Bath and hand towels.

  • Storage: A laundry bag or hamper for clothes.

  • Personal Touch: Small photos, books, a small plant, or other decorations to personalize your room.

Clothing & Daily Needs

  • Clothing: Enough seasonal clothing, including comfortable leisure wear and a set of professional or interview attire.

  • Toiletries: All personal hygiene items, including soap, shampoo, toothbrush/paste, makeup, and any prescriptions or daily medications.

  • Cleaning: Small cleaning supplies (e.g., wipes, spray) for your personal bedroom area.

Your First 48 Hours: The Simple Move-In Process

This straightforward process ensures you feel safe and oriented immediately upon arrival.

  1. Check-In & Keys: You will meet your assigned Program Coordinator or on-site staff member. They will give you your keys, security codes, and a copy of the House Rules.

  2. Home Briefing: The staff member will give you a quick tour of your room and the common areas. They will cover essential safety and security procedures (fire escape, emergency contacts).

  3. Final Paperwork: You will sign the Residency Agreement and any final required intake documents.

  4. Settle In: You’ll have time to unpack and settle into your room. We recommend getting your bedroom organized first to establish your space.

  5. Initial Goal Check: Within your first two days, a staff member will sit down with you for a brief, friendly check-in to confirm your initial goals (work, school, life skills) and schedule your first introductory workshop.

Simple Program Expectations

While you live here, we have very basic expectations designed to promote community and independence.

  • Respect: Treat staff, other residents, and the property with respect.

  • Cleanliness: Keep your room and shared areas clean and tidy.

  • Engagement: Actively participate in the life skills programs and meet the goals outlined in your individual plan.

  • Communication: Talk to staff if you are struggling with rent, rules, or personal challenges. We are here to support you.

Important Reminder

Note on Large Items: Your room is furnished. To ensure the safety and comfort of all residents, please do not bring large furniture, major appliances (like mini-fridges, personal microwaves), or unregistered pets. If you have questions about a specific item, please ask us first!
